How wrong we were! As I write this, just after the announcement of the new 3 tier system, more areas are moving from tier 1 into tier 2, with the very real threat of tier 3 hanging over large metropolitan are- as. We have been fortunate here that we are not in a high risk area, but that doesn ’ t mean we are unaffected. The 4 water- ing holes in the village all had to shut for about 4 months, putting a strain on their viability. All are open again and trying very hard to operate under the new guidelines, but they do need the support of Buckden residents - both in using them and in following the new rules! None of them want the £10000 fine. We are approaching the time of year when St Mary ’ s should be planning for its best attended events of the year. The Re- membrance Service cannot happen this year, so a smaller, outdoor service will be taking place instead on Remembrance Sunday as well as the traditional service at the War Memorial on November 11th. More details can be found on page 9. It is too early to say what December will bring for anything or anyone. The Christmas Market cannot happen this year, but the committee are still trying to encourage the seasonal spirit! Please see the advert on page 13 for details of how to get involved. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month: www.buckdenroundabout.info This month ’ s editor - Ian Carter Editor ’ s Page
