Buckden Community Hub As mentioned in previous months we are in discussions with the North Care Partnership Integrated Neighbourhood Team (part of the NHS) about developing a Community Health & Wellbeing Hub for the residents of Buckden. As part of this exercise, we are seeking your views about the various services and opportunities available in Buckden and what else you would like to see. It would be of great help if you could com- plete the questionnaire below to give us your thoughts. You can access the questionnaire at https://forms.office.com/e/ nYWPgmmCj2 Or by clicking on the code below. If you would prefer to complete a paper copy these can be collected from and returned to the library. Annual Assembly The Annual Parish Assembly takes place on 28 th May at 7 pm in the Village Hall. All residents are invited. The meeting pro- vides an update about what the Council has achieved this year and what our plans are for the coming 12 months. It will in- clude updates from various organisations including the Police and Neighbourhood Watch. As importantly it is also your opportunity to tell us what you think and raise any concerns you have about the village. Please join us. The Views of Younger People in the Village We are very keen to better understand the views of younger people, primarily those between 11 and 21. We want to un- derstand what facilities they would like to see in the village. We will be distributing a question- naire during May and holding an event for younger residents to ex- plore this further on 17 th May. More information will be provided shortly. Neighbourhood Watch The Neighbourhood Watch team are looking for volunteers to help support the scheme. More information is available on Page 11. Become a Councillor We currently have two vacancies for Councillors. If you are interested in your local community and would like to help improve local services and facilities, please consider joining us. We run a monthly Council Meeting in the evening. We also have several groups including Flooding, Highways, Planning, Green Infrastructure, Climate Change and Allotments. Meetings take place at times to best suit attendees. It ’ s a great way to meet people and is really enjoyable. If you are interested, please contact us via the Clerk. Richard West We are sad to hear that Richard West has decided to retire from the District Council, after nearly nineteen years of ser- vice to the local community, He was Buckden ’ s County Coun- cillor for four years before being elected as District Councillor for Gransden and then Great Paxton. During his years on the District Council he served on every committee and his wide experience was invaluable when he served as the council Chairman for an extended period of three years. Residents will be aware of his work as Neighbourhood Watch Co - ordinator and his monthly contributions to the Roundabout. Unfortunately, his own poor health and the need to care for his 102 year old mother, Hilda mean that he must reluctantly take a back seat. We wish him and Hilda the very best for the future. Council Meetings The next Council meeting will be at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 14 th May. The meeting will include a 15 - minute open forum. If you want to speak at the meeting, please let us know what you want to say, by contacting the Parish Clerk. You will get a three - minute slot. The Council Planning Committee will also meet if required. Agendas for both meetings are posted on the Parish notice boards no later than the Saturday preceding the meeting.
