These lovely little flowers should still be blooming when you get this issue of the Roundabout. They grace many private gardens and public spaces in Buckden (there are some planted around the revamped Valley) and further afield (the display at the National Trust property of Anglesey Abbey is world famous). They are a sign of the turn- ing of the year, and although we can still get cold and dismal weather through March and April, the days are getting longer and life is stirring. With pandemic restrictions easing, and Spring around the cor- ner, we are beginning to attend events and live our lives much more as we did before the pandemic struck. For example, Buckden Gardeners Association has been unable to hold its twice - yearly show for two years. Now the Spring Show is back, and will be held in the Village Hall on April 2nd. You can find the show schedule on pages 17 and 18 of this issue. You don ’ t have to be a member of the BGA to enter. The daffodils should be at their best around the weekend of the show. Why not have a look at the schedule to see what classes you can enter, and have a go. Come on, let ’ s get to- gether for a real celebration of the return of village life. Did you know that we have an author of children ’ s books in Buckden? We interview her on page 13, where she tells us about how she came to start writing books, and her experi- ence as a published author. Buckden Towers is famous as the temporary prison of Cathe- rine of Aragon. But did you know that the Towers has a close connection with other noble Tudor visitors? The story of the young Dukes of Suffolk who sought refuge from an epidemic in Buckden Towers, and of their father, close friend of Henry VIII, is told on page 15. Please remember to visit the Roundabout website. As well as every edition from 2013 onwards available to see, there are often articles there that we could not fit into the print edition, as well as information that arrives during the month.
