13 Buckden Roundabout March 2021 Village News Greetings from 1st Southoe and Buck- den Scout Group We hope that everyone is keeping safe and well during the lockdown and we would like to give you this update from your local Scout Group Scout Christmas Post – raised £570 - Thank you! Firstly, we would like to thank every- one who used the Scout Christmas Post in December 2020. We very much appreciated all the cards and generous donations from the village community. Scouting continues despite Covid - 19 Although face to face activities have not been able to take place over lockdown, for the most part, our sections have con- tinued with weekly online meetings for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. They have been taking part in various activites such baking, campfire cooking, quizzes, battleships and talent shows. The Leaders also arranged for some guests to lead sessions. The Beavers enjoyed creating poetry with Conrad Burdekin (a children ’ s poet and writer) and the Cubs have tak- en part in an organised sign language session, Taekwondo and a ‘ Percussion Workshop ’! Hinchingbrooke District Scout Group have also arranged week- end camp - at - home activities and two special days: Space Day last year and in February 2021 Ocean Day. These were open to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Ocean Day included a virtual tour of the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth and specialist talks by ocean adventurers and marine biologists. We would like to thank the Leaders and parents for enabling their children to be part of these fantastic events. As the COVID - 19 restrictions are lifted, we hope to move to- wards face - to - face activities across all sections during 2021. This will initially be in smaller groups with outside activities. The Leaders are preparing risk assessments so they are in place, ready to go! If you would like to get involved with the Scout Group, we are in need of more Leaders, particularly for the Beaver sections (6 - 8 year olds) and also just general support for activities and the Executive Committee.
