If you have moved from further afield, pop in with some identi- fication (showing your address) to register for your free Cam- bridgeshire library card so that you can use our services. It would be great to welcome you! As well as a wide range of books for adults and children, you can find free WiFi at your library, public access PCs, printing and photocopying, quiet space to work, postage stamps for sale, and local information... or you could try one of the activi- ties below … Engage in the afternoon - Cambridgeshire Inventions Wednesday 5 June at 2pm. Our next Engage event is presented by Mary Burgess, our Local Studies Librarian, who will take us on a wide - ranging tour of amazing creations and discoveries about Cambridgeshire In- ventions. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Let ’ s get arty! We are always looking for new things to offer at Buckden Li- brary and the chance has arisen to run a library art group. This would be an informal group during normal opening hours, ini- tially focussing on drawing with maybe a bit of watercolour work later on. Before taking this further we need to know how many of you would be interested, so please let us have your thoughts, ei- ther by email StNeots.Referral@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or call- ing in at the library. Terrific Tuesdays Our morning Duplo and games for the under 5s continues be- tween 10am and 1pm every Tuesday in our children ’ s library with the usual selection jigsaws, Orchard games, building blocks and soft toys. And in the afternoon why not join us for rhymetime at 2.15pm, ideal for babies to 4 year olds, with songs, rhymes and short stories. Super Saturdays Combining our two popular Saturday morning sessions has worked so well we ’ re going to keep this going! Every week we will have both Lego Club (all ages) and Family Board Games (over 3s) available between 10am and 12.30pm. Time to apply for or renew your bus pass? We can help. To renew, just call in with your existing bus pass. The Almshouse flats are unfurnished dwellings, usually, but not always, designed with the needs of older people in mind. The aim is to provide convenient and comfortable accommodation in a setting that allows residents to come and go as they please. The Almshouse is the resident ’ s home for as long as s/he is able to live an independent life. Residents pay a modest weekly maintenance contribution and, in addition, may receive support from the statutory authorities. A Warden is employed to pro- vide access to and liaison with these authorities. Having a Warden also means that support is provided regularly and can assist with summoning help if needed. We now have three vacancies in South ’ s Almshouses (the older of the two properties). If you are interested, please contact the Clerk for more information and an application form: Joe Greenway, 2 St Hughs Road, Buckden, PE19 5UB or joe.greenway@btinternet.com Applications close Friday 28th June 2024.
