9 Buckden Roundabout June 2023 For Your Diary MONDAY CLUB We are a social group of ladies who meet fortnightly at 2.30pm in the Millard Suite at Buckden Village Hall. At each meeting we either have a guest speaker or partici- pate in an activity of our own. We then enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits, and participate in a raffle. Why not come and join us? These are: - Wed. 14th at 2pm, the “ Buckden Ramble ”, and Wed. 21st at 2pm, the “ Hardwick Circular ” walk. Leaflets listing all the walks are obtainable from both the Li- brary and the Mayfield Surgery. The safety - checked walks are led by trained volunteer leaders at moderate exercise pace, and are about 1 hour long. It is important that walkers wear adequate clothing and footwear in case of adverse conditions, plus carrying a small bottle of drinking water will help avoid dehydration. If you are joining the walk, please check in with the leader be- tween 5 and 10 minutes before the start - time; enjoy the walk and the cheery company! If anyone would like to join the committee as a mem- ber or in one of the executive posts please let the secretary know. Afterwards there will be a talk by Terry Hayward on the R101 Disaster. Was it an unfortunate accident or avoidable political catastrophe? Terry describes the events that led up to the disaster on its voyage to India on 4 October 1930, from Cardington, near Bedford.
