20 Buckden Roundabout June 2023 Village News Coronation Weekend The village was busy with activities for all during the Corona- tion Weekend and we really enjoyed hosting the Tea Party that took place on 8 th May. It was a fabulously attended event and thank you to all the volunteers who enabled this to take place. You all did a fabulous job! It was a great afternoon! Valley It ’ s really lovely to see such a lot of support from local residents for the ongoing work in the Valley and sur- rounding area. We have a great team of volunteers who help to maintain the area and keep it looking as lovely as possible. If anyone has any concerns or queries about the area, please email us directly on admin@buckdenvillagehall.co.uk and if you would like to join our fabulous team of volunteers we would love to hear from you. There have been comments on the Buckden Residents Face- book page about the algae bloom in the water. This is caused by the shallowness of the water which allows light to penetrate to the bottom, aggravating the algae bloom. The stream which feeds the Valley has also reduced in volume, resulting in a weaker current. Ideally the water in the Valley needs an aerator to keep the water moving and add oxygen. We are exploring a few options. The swans appear to be nesting so please take care with dogs and children. Swans can be very territorial and will defend their nests. Conference Rooms for hire We have three conference rooms that are great for corpo- rate bookings, plus the main Hall for larger meetings/ training sessions. We have reduced hire rates for residents of Buckden/Stirtloe/Diddington so if you would rather walk to your next meeting than get stuck in traffic, please email me! We can also offer refreshments/ buffet lunch so we are a one - stop - shop for your meeting needs! The main Hall is great for large conferences as well as par- ties, weddings, children ’ s parties, anniversaries and chris- tenings. Please see above a beautiful wedding reception held here a few weeks ago. Vandalism Just a reminder, if anyone witnesses vandalism taking place around the Valley, Hall building or playing field, please re- port it directly to 101 or online at www.cambs.police.uk. Please report any damage to the Hall Manager on ad- min@buckdenvillagehall.co.uk FUNDRAISING TO SUPPORT THE VILLAGE HALL The Village Hall is a completely self - funding charity. We are totally reliant on our room hire and fundraising to support our operations. Every little amount helps us to keep the doors open and finance the constant improvements and maintenance required to keep the Hall and the grounds safe and pleasant to use.
