13 Buckden Roundabout June 2023 Buckden Parish Council Annual Report Buckden Parish Council Annual Report 2023 Achievements this year and Future Plans Highways Achievements • Provided a detailed analysis of the accessibility and state of repair of pavements to CCC. Awaiting action. • Bollards were erected near the school, but double yellow lines are still awaited. • Speed watch has been successfully relaunched. • Additional funding has now been allocated to the cycling and walking route to Brampton. Work should be completed in September. • Two new cycle racks installed in the village. • Responded to residents ’ concerns about the potential installation of chicanes in the High Street and the proposals were not implemented. Plans • Raise the profile of problems with road and pavement repairs by: • Continuing to lobby and support a joint meeting with CCC and HDC • Provide a template for residents to use as an email or letter to lobby CCC for action. From the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan ( LCWIP) prioritise • Additional dropped kerbs on Manor Gardens. • Raise awareness of speeding and parking issues by passing on Police guidance and increasing the number of speed moni- toring camera • Increase the number of speedwatch volunteers and the number of locations. • Install village speed watch signs. Green infrastructure and biodiversity Achievements • Established wildflower areas at the churchyard, Hunts End, Morris Close and replanted hedge row in High Street. • Introduced Friends of Buckden Footpaths and new volunteers being recruited for this year. • Produced a tree planting leaflet and a Trees and Bees leaflet. • Outsourced tree management to HDC Plans Promote use of footpaths: • Visit school and clubs to promote walking. • Organise photo competition to promote walking. • Develop the footpath infrastructure by incorporating paths developed by Aggregate Industries at Paxton Pits site and work in partnership with landowners and Little Paxton Pits nature reserve to promote use of paths between villages. Organise a big launch when the new footpaths are officially in place with new improved footpaths map. • Continue to seek opportunities to designate new footpaths. • Continue to recruit and support Friends of Buckden Footpaths • Increase biodiversity: • Establish one new wildflower area each year. • Produce one or two new leaflets a year to support residents to improve the biodiversity of their gardens.
