11 Buckden Roundabout July 2024 Village News Monks Wood The Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Wildlife Trust invites you to come along for a walk on Sunday July 14th at Monks Wood, near Sawtry. Monks Wood is a National Nature Reserve and an area of an- cient woodland, hosting a wide range of woodland flowers, insects and birds in addition to a variety of trees, including wild service trees. Our main focus today will be to look for butter- flies and we hope to see silver washed fritillary, meadow brown, ringlet, green veined white and gatekeeper among many others. Please meet at 10.30 am in the layby on the B1090, GR TL202809, what3words broth.reheat.order. Please car share where possible as parking is very limited. Paths are narrow, steep in places and often surprisingly muddy, so stout foot- wear is advised. Everyone is most welcome to attend. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. Registered Charity No: 1000412 Join Huntingdonshire Neighbourhood Watch Association (HNWA) HNWA was formed November 2022 and is now a registered charity. The com- mittee includes members of the commu- nity and local councillors. HNWA looks after 230+ NHW schemes within Hun- tingdonshire . There are six Associations in total, with Huntingdonshire and Peterborough being the largest. Cambridgeshire Neighbour- hood Watch Association covers the whole police force area of Cambridgeshire, which sits almost as a parent of the 6 associations. My name is Jo Hall. As well as being a committee member and one of two Multi Scheme Administrators for HNWA, I have been a NHW Coordinator over 20yrs. I personally have found this to have been very rewarding and it is something I feel very passionate about. The Buckden and Little Paxton Surgeries Patient Participation Group is a voluntary group that represents the patients of the Practice and works in partnership with GPs and Practice staff to provide feedback on the services provided to improve patient care. 1. Following patient feedback, we are putting on 3 events: “ Take control of your healthcare with the NHS App ” – Tuesday 18 th June 2024 (if this event is popular we plan to run a further session); 2. “ Ask your GP ” – A face to face Q & A session for new parents on common conditions in children such as rash- es, temperatures, allergies, food intolerances, and tum- my bugs together with advice on vaccinations – Wednes- day 17 th July 2024, 2 pm – 3 pm at Buckden Surgery; 3. “ Know Your Numbers ” - An opportunity for a health check in a relaxed surrounding to monitor your health including blood pressure, cholesterol etc and to get ad- vice on health and well being – Tuesday 17 th September 2024 (details to be confirmed). These events will be advertised on posters, in Buckden and Little Paxton Surgeries and on Facebook. Light refreshments will be provided. We hope you will find these events useful and we would welcome suggestions on topics for future events. As a voluntary group we are always seeking new members. If you would like to join us, we meet quarterly with Practice staff to provide patient feedback and receive an update about the local health and care system. Members also get involved in ad hoc activities including collecting patient feedback, volunteering at vaccination clinics and running fundraising events. We are particularly under represented by younger people including new parents and minority groups.
