15 Buckden Roundabout July 2020 Village News Friends of Buckden Towers Plant Sale Our annual Plant Sale was due to take place on 16 th May 2020. However, due to restrictions put in place to tackle the Covid - 19 outbreak, we cancelled this year ’ s Plant Sale. Many apologies to our loyal supporters. We will be back, better than ever, in 2021 on Saturday 15th May. New Distributors for the Roundabout As we are putting plans in place for the Roundabout to return to a print copy, we are looking for some new volun- teers to join our team of distributors who deliver about 30 copies each month. If you have some time to spare at the end of each month please email us on distribution@buckdenroundabout.info Existing distributors, please contact us to say whether you are prepared to continue. BUCKDEN PAROCHIAL CHARITIES ALMSHOUSE CHARITIES OF JAMES SOUTH AND WILLIAM BURBERRY WARDEN VACANCY (Part time) The Charity is seeking a caring, competent, reliable, and self - motivated Warden to provide Warden ser- vices for 15 flats across two sites in the village of Buckden. Ideally, they should have experience of supported housing, be organised and methodical with empathy and understanding and have a good knowledge of health and safety and safeguarding regulations. Most of the residents are over 60. The Warden should ideally live locally with 10 minutes drive of the Almshouses in Buckden. Access to a car is essential. Core hours of work are 10 hours per week Monday to Friday. Emergency duties outside these hours will be paid at an enhanced hourly rate and time off in lieu can be taken for any emergency duties in excess of the 10 hours. Commencement date will be 1 st September, or earlier by arrangement. Duties include: 1. Providing assistance to residents and keeping next of kin appraised of developments and any issues arising. 2. Visiting each resident daily Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays) unless specifically asked not to do so. 3. Notifying the Clerk of any defects or faults in the premises and to contact plumbers, electricians, etc. as necessary and as authorised. To supervise workers on the premises. 4. Occasionally taking residents to and from the doc- tor, hospital and other medical professionals where the residents have been unable to organise it themselves. 5. Responding to the very occasional emergencies that arise when off duty The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and appointment will condition- al on this being satisfactory.
