9 Buckden Roundabout January 2024 For Your Diary MONDAY CLUB We are a social group of ladies who meet fortnightly at 2.30pm in the Millard Suite at Buckden Village Hall. At each meeting we either have a guest speaker or partici- pate in an activity of our own. The walks leaflet obtainable from the Surgery and the Library shows details of this month's five Wednesday - at - 2pm and four Friday - at - 10am walks. The venue for the walk on the 31 st January is the Buckden li- brary car park. The remaining eight walks are from other local - walk areas. Walks are led by volunteer trained leaders and follow risk - assessed footpaths for about an hour at a steady exercise pace. Walkers' clothing and footwear should adequately match pre- vailing weather and ground conditions; bringing a bottle of drinking water will be helpful, to avoid dehydration. To register your presence on a walk, please check in with the leader at the venue 5 - 10 minutes before the walk starts. January 3 rd is 2024's first walk, from Houghton Mill at 2pm. I have sent a cheque for £200 to Combat Stress. - Linda Upham Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal 2023 I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the Shoebox Appeal as 302 shoe- boxes were collected. It is a wonderful achievement by everyone. We just beat our target of 300 boxes This means that some needy children in poor countries will have a happier Christmas, as they will receive a shoe- box from Buckden sent with love.
