Road Safety We are seeking the views of residents about traffic safety in the village. We will be issuing a series of short 2 – 5 - minute surveys asking your views on various aspects of road safety. We will use the information to prioritise projects in the vil- lage. The first survey is in relation to speeding – to participate please use the QR code below or look for the link on our web- site. Your contribution is important to us! This survey will be available until the end of January. Tree Warden The role of the Tree Warden on the Parish Council is a volun- teer role aimed at conserving the trees and woods in our vil- lage. The includes surveying local trees, gathering infor- mation about them and liaising with the local District Council, Conservation groups, the Parish Council, and the community. For a number of years, we have had a very active tree warden Melanie Storey but she is now giving up the role, so we are looking for a volunteer to fill this important position in the village. If you would like to find out more about what is in- volved please contact Cllr Underwood cunder- wood@buckdenpc.org.uk or Clerk clerk@buckdenpc.org.uk We would like to take this opportunity to thank Melanie for everything she has done as a tree warden over the last 5 years. Making Memories group – seeking volunteers to assist with social interaction in these meetings. We are planning to re - open the Making Memories group early in 2024. To make that possible we are looking for volunteers to help by attending the sessions. The Making Memories sessions are run for the benefit of people with memory concerns who are referred through their GP practices. Sessions will be held at Buckden Village Hall. The day and time of sessions will be shared with potential volunteers and at the same time further details will be given to you about how we will support you in that role. 2 or 3 Volunteers per session will attend to support social in- teraction between the people with memory loss (not demen- tia), their carers and the volunteers. • The volunteers ’ role is to make the group a welcoming place for all attending. • Partners and carers for people referred to the group may act as volunteers. Volunteers will receive support and training in safeguarding. To protect all involved including the volunteers, they will be required to follow our volunteering policy and procedure. These will be shared and explained before you are actively involved. The group will meet each week, but volunteers will not be expected to attend every session as there will be a rota.
