There have been lots of developments here at BJFC over the last couple of months as we truly get stuck into the Winter Season! We took part in the FA ’ s ‘ Silent Support ’ weekend which involved coaches and supporters staying silent for the games taking part on that weekend, with the aim of giving our players a better oppor- tunity to find their own voice and develop their game. This was very warmly received, and proved a very valuable learning ex- perience for all! We also took part in the remembrance weekend, showing our support through silences before matches and through wearing our special kit poppies, funded by the club. New Development Squad We are regularly approached by players looking to join one of our teams, but many are sadly at maximum capacity. We are looking to start a new Development Squad to give these chil- dren a chance to play, learn and be coached until they are able to join a team. We are looking for a coach for this, the club will fund any necessary courses or training required. For more in- formation contact our chairman Michael on bjfcchairman@hotmail.com Where is God in all of this? Times feel rather difficult. Our experiences of COVID still linger for many. The reality of war in Europe, along with a real under- standing of the impact of climate change, shake our feelings of security. The economic situation faced by our country and the impact on services which we rely on are really being felt; most recently the obvious fragility of our NHS brings hardship and anxiety for ourselves, our families and friends and concern for the situation children and young people will face as they grow. And we all know that situations in other countries far worse off than our own! The question of ‘ where is God in all this? ’ arises in the minds of many; what, if anything, does the Christ we have so recently celebrated at Christmas have to offer us today? If you are thinking about faith, new to faith, or perhaps strug- gling with your faith, do join Sue and David (ministers repre- senting the Methodist, Anglican & Catholic churches in and around Buckden) and friends in the pub on Wednesdays from the 22 nd February to 29th March in asking such questions and exploring what does faith bring to the situations we face to- day. Venue and other details to be confirmed. See advert on page 18.
