The next meeting of the Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Wildlife Trust will be held on Wednesday 11 th January 2023 at 7.30pm when we will be pleased to welcome Pat Doody. Many of you will know that Pat was a leading member of the Local Group Committee until he stepped down in December. He is still our newsletter editor and works independently as an Ecological Consultant. Pat has a wealth of experience in na- ture conservation, with a particular interest in coastal ecology and this is sure to be a very interesting and informative talk. Everyone is most welcome to attend. Talks start at 7.30pm at Brampton Memorial Hall, Thrapston Road, Brampton, PE28 4TB. Admission charge £3.50. Buckden Learning Group The Soul of Russian Music with Great 19 th Century Composers Tutor Marina Burrell This Course takes you on a journey with celebrated Russian composers of the 19 th Century who faced the challenge of linking the European music language with the Russian national tradition. Among other things you will learn how Tchaikovsky struggled with fate, how Rachma- ninov's 'four weeping notes' revealed Russianness; how Glin- ka and the Mighty Five manged to transform the perception of Russian music in the World. 10 th January 2023 - 21 st March 2023 (half term 14 th February) 10.00am to 12 noon Venue: Conference Room, Claret Centre, Buckden Towers. It is a wonderful achievement by every- one, especially in these uncertain times. This means that some needy children in poor countries will have had a happier Christmas, as they will have received a shoebox from Buckden sent with love.
