16 Buckden Roundabout February 2025 Village News Building improvements During January we continued to invest in our facilities by installing new carpets throughout and also started a phased plan of painting each of the rooms. The blinds are being replaced this month. We hope you will enjoy the refreshed look of our facilities. Repair Café – Saturday 8 th February 2025 Following the success of the first Repair Café last year, Buckden Parish Council are holding another here at the Hall on 8 th February 1:30pm – 4:30pm. The pantomime returns! Melodramatics are back at the Hall on Friday 7 th – Sun- day 9 th March with The Little Mermaid! More details to follow. Your Village Hall needs you! We currently have some vacancies on the Trust. Could you join us? Becoming a Trustee is not time consum- ing, but you would be part of a team that oversees the maintenance of the Hall building, Valley and playing field not only for everyone now but also ensuring it is future proof so that generations more residents can enjoy our facilities. The Trust meets once per month. Here is a quick reminder that they still remain illegal in the UK; It ’ s not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e - scooters which means it ’ s illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces, such as parks, street pavements, and shop- ping centres. If you own e - scooter you can only use them on private land and must have the permission of the landowner to do so. Breaching the rules when riding one could land you with a fixed penalty notice. KEEP YOUR HOME SAFE FROM BURGLARS. Following recent reports of burglaries, make sure your proper- ty is secure. Here ’ s a few ways to keep your home protected: • Ensure your garden gates are secure and locked when you are away. • Install sensor lighting outside in a yard or garden allow- ing someone to be clearly seen. • Use indoor timers for lights and lamps inside your home at pre - set times when you ’ re away. • Make sure to check in with your neighbours and look out for each other. • If something doesn ’ t seem right, then it isn ’ t, call the police on 101 or if you believe a crime is taking place, always call 999 • Consider installing CCTV or a ring doorbell, this can act as a deterrent for anyone trying to break into your property.
