9 Buckden Roundabout February 2023 For Your Diary MONDAY CLUB We are a social group of ladies who meet fortnightly at 2.30pm in the Millard Suite at Buckden Village Hall. At each meeting we either have a guest speaker or partici- pate in an activity of our own. Details of February's programme are on a leaflet obtain- able from the Mayfield Surgery and also from the Library in Burberry Road, PE19 5UY, the base for our own village walks. This month, there is one walk from the Library car park, the 'Hardwick Circular' walk, on Friday the 3 rd at 10am – you will be welcome to join it, plus any others. Our approved walks are volunteer - led, of about one - hour's duration, are not a dawdle nor a race, with invariably cheerful companions! Please ensure that clothing and footwear match prevailing weather conditions, and that you carry a bottle of drinking wa- ter in case of dehydration. Please register with the walk - leader 10 minutes before it starts. Buckden Local History Society 1 February 2023 The Witch Trial at Huntingdon Town Hall by John Davies In Huntingdon 1646 a number of men and women were ar- raigned for trial accused of witchcraft. John talks about this event, the “ Witchfinders ” Matthew Hopkins and John Stearn, and the Museum ’ s historical re - enactment in November 2022.
