Lego Club is set to return to Buckden library on Satur- day 29 January, and will run every other Saturday from 10am until 1pm – so, all builders should note their diaries for the 12 and 26 February too. Fabulous builds will be displayed in the library and there might be the occasional competition... Suitable for children aged 5 - 11. A voluntary donation of 50p per child would be welcome. Rhymetime Our popular Rhymetime sessions will continue on Wednesdays at 10am until after the school half term when they will revert back to Tuesday afternoons at 2.15. These sessions of stories, rhymes and songs are aimed at getting the under 5s socialising as well as enjoying language and books. Prebooking is essential either at the library in person, tele- phone on the number below or email stneots.referral@cambridgeshire.gov.uk. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Duplo and games for the under 5s Each Tuesday morning during term time between 10 and 1 our children ’ s library has a selection of jigsaws, Orchard games, Duplo and other toys available for the under 5s. No need to book, just drop in to meet up with other families. Again, chil- dren need to be accompanied by an adult. Knit Lit Do you enjoy knitting and reading? Knit lit is currently meeting in the Methodist Church in Buckden on alternate Fridays from 7pm until 9pm. The next meeting dates for the group are 11 & 25 February – you are welcome to join them – just turn up! Age UK visit Caroline from Age UK has been pleased to see a number of residents using her monthly drop sessions and making good use of the free information, advice and support she can offer for the over 65s and their families. No appointment needed, just drop in for help and guidance on how to continue to live independently. Keep an eye on the library window for dates and times of her next visits – or if you would like to speak to her sooner on the phone, just call in for details Stamps In keeping with fellow libraries, Buckden is now selling stamps. We have books of first and second class stamps – please ask at the counter. Time to apply for or renew your bus pass? We can help. To renew, just call in with your existing bus pass. If you are applying for your first pass, and are of pensionable age, you will need to bring proof of age, proof of address and your national insurance number. There is no charge for this service. I was able to send them £400. Many thanks. Mary Perkins and I, jointly with St. Mary's Church, are raising funds for a small charity that is making a big difference to people suffering domestic violence. They are called 'Compassion' (www.compassion.org). Compas- sion supports survivors and promotes awareness of Do- mestic Violence. We ask you to fill a Smarties tube with coins and hand them to either of us by the end of February. We will also be organising a sponsored walk around the beautiful new path in the valley in February. Look out for notices on Facebook and around the village.
