In this presentation Pat will consider the way we have changed our landscape and, specifically, the wildlife of Brampton Par- ish. He will begin with a brief introduction to the geology, up to and including, the Holocene period, the period since the end of the last glaciation. He will then consider the history of the area and the way we have altered habitats and wildlife up to the present day. This will include changes associated with human Neolithic settlements and forest clearance for agricul- ture about 6000 years ago, through Medieval land manage- ment and infrastructure development in the 20th century. The talk is based on Lockdown diaries commencing on the 23rd March, when lockdown was first introduced, taking in the following 12 months, when wildlife and photography walks provided Pat with time for reflection on this topic. To finish, Pat will describe some of the remaining wildlife sites and con- sider what the future holds. Everyone is most welcome to attend. Pat will send the zoom link out nearer the time.
