6 Buckden Roundabout August 2024 St Hugh ’ s, Methodist & Baptist Churches Roman Catholic Parish of St Hugh of Lincoln, High Street, Buckden Telephone: 01480 810344 The Catholic Parish of St Hugh of Lincoln is located at Buckden Towers which is also the home of the Claret Centre, a retreat and conference Centre that is also in the pastoral care of the Claretian Missionaries. The Parish Priest and Director of the Claret Centre is Fr Paul Smyth CMF. Assisting him are Fr Jude Arinze CMF and Fr Jim Kennedy CMF Presently the service times are: Saturday Vigil Mass: 6:00 pm. A quiet Mass with a few hymns. Sunday Masses: 8:00 am, A quiet start to the day with no singing or music 10:00 am. A Family Mass with a children ’ s liturgy each Sunday during term time. Confession available each Saturday 5.15pm - 5:45pm or by appointment Ongoing activities taking place at Buckden Towers • Thursday evenings during term time the village Youth Group meets from 7 to 8pm. • Collection of supplies for local foodbank. • Tuesday morning: Volunteer Gardeners meet to look after the grounds. • The Claretian Community has morning prayer at 8am each morning and evening Prayer at 5.45pm in the Clar- et Chapel situated in the Under Croft, at the back of the church buildings. ACTIVITIES IN AUGUST Finding August a bit quiet, with some of your regular activi- ties taking a break? The Methodist Coffee Morning and Soup and Sweet lunch will be open as usual and extra visitors are always welcome so do come along and find some friends to chat to here. Friday 2nd : 10.a.m. Monthly Coffee Morning in the Methodist Schoolroom Friday 16th: 12 noon SOUP AND SWEET LUNCH Please note there will be no Bible Group meeting throughout August as we take a Summer break. Next meeting: 10th Sep- tember Perry Baptist Church Perry Baptist Church meets each Sunday at 10.30am In addition to our weekly services we also hold a monthly evening service on the 1 st Sunday of the month at 6pm. The Sunday services are recorded and placed on Youtube each week at: https://tinyurl.com/5f2y46zm The Perry Drop In continues to be open to all twice a month. On the first and third Monday of the month Perry Baptist Church is open between 10am and Midday for any in the com- munity to drop in for coffee, tea or hot chocolate and biscuits or toast. The Drop In is not intended to be a fund raising event but an opportunity for the community to come together and support each other. A Future date for your diary Shakespeare ’ s The Tempest will be being per- formed in the Knot Garden on the evening of Satur- day August 24 th . Tickets are available from the Victorian house at the Towers. The performance will begin in the Knot Garden at 7pm on Saturday 24 th August. The grounds will be open from 5pm with refresh- ments and a licensed bar available for purchase. Orders will also be taken for drinks to be ready for during the intermission.
