12 Buckden Roundabout August 2023 Village News A new edition of Roundabout is made every month. Each is prepared by a team of friendly volunteers who live in Buckden. We hope you enjoy reading it! We are always on the lookout for new volunteers. At the moment, we are looking for an assistant advertising manager. If you ’ d like to join us, or if you have suggestions of things you ’ d like to see in Rounda- bout, please send us an email. Editor Alec and Ian are co - editors of Roundabout and they lead the team. Here are some of the things they do: • Inviting and selecting copy for publication • Selecting and preparing cover art • Laying out the magazine You can email Alec and Ian at editor@buckdenroundabout.info Contributor Contributions of articles, interviews, fiction stories, news, photos, artwork and ideas are always welcome. 500 words is about half a page. Providing pictures as well is great and can bring words to life. This article was contributed by Wendy. Anyone can contribute! Advertising manager Fiona is our advertising manager. She would love to hear from people who could assist her. The advertising manager ’ s tasks include: • Liaising with local businesses who are current or potential advertisers • Assisting with advertising copy, when required • Creating and issuing invoices and ensuring payment is made for advertisements • Compiling accounts and liaising with the Parish Council regard- ing income/expenditure You can email Fiona about advertising your business, or to find out more about what she does and how you can help at adverts@buckdenroundabout.info Proofreader Lesley is our proofreader, correcting spelling, grammar and layout. Her role is important in controlling the quality of Roundabout. Distribution team When all the news, articles, pictures and adverts have been assem- bled, proof read, and when the editors are happy, Roundabout is printed. Lesley, Wendy and Patricia lead the distribution team. They take deliv- ery of 1550+ magazines and sort them into the right number for each route. They then deliver the route packs to volunteer deliverers, who post them through letterboxes across Buckden, Diddington and Stirtloe. Lesley and Wendy also lead recruitment of volunteers to ensure there ’ s a deliverer for every route. If you have around 20 minutes of free time each month to deliver issues of Roundabout in your neigh- bourhood, and would like to add your name to our short waiting list for a route, please email them at distribution@buckdenroundabout.info Roundabout could not be made without volunteers!
