Our centre spread this month gives more details of the event. The last 18 months has been an incredibly tough time for busi- nesses throughout the country, and our local businesses are no exception. We are very lucky to have the facilities that our businesses provide right here on our doorstep, and now is the time to show our support by buying from them and using their services as much as possible. Therefore we have decided to start a regular series where we plan to shine the spotlight on our local businesses in turn. This month ’ s focus is on The Vine and can be found on page 16. We are just about in the middle of summer now, and Mark Ward, our regular “ Wildlife in Buckden ” contributor writes this month on page 13 about the need to consider wildlife when mowing our lawns. The same considerations apply to road verges and other green spaces, and local authorities and developers are being encouraged to leave areas to grow natu- rally in order to provide a habitat for bees, butterflies and other wildlife. Terry Hayward continues his history of the Parish Council om page 18, which has been as much a fascinating history of the village as it has been about the Council. Finally, we have re- produced a couple of eye witness accounts of the creation of Graham Water. Turn to page 7. I hope you enjoy our bumper August edition.
