16 Buckden Roundabout August 2020 FRIENDS IN DEED Friends in Deed is a voluntary group offering support to Buckden residents. There are times in our lives when we could all do with a little extra support or companion- ship whatever our age or circumstances. From the 18 th March to 4 th July we worked closely with Buck- den Parish Council in delivering their Covid - 19 Volunteer Sup- port Service for the village. Over that time there were 175 calls to the service and 70% of those calls came through the Friends in Deed number. The majority of calls to the service were within the first 3 weeks and the Volunteer Support Ser- vice has now closed. Friends in Deed, however, is still very much up and running to provide: - • Someone to talk to - It is not easy to ask for help but why struggle when there are people happy to listen and to help? When we keep things to ourselves and struggle on, things can feel overwhelming and a little bit of help can make a big difference. Whilst we can- not currently visit, we can still provide a friendly voice and ear over the phone, either as a one - off chat or on an ongoing basis. • “ Click & collect ” collection service. Our drivers can pick - up prepaid 'Click and Collect' orders for those self - isolating from any of the local town stores (Huntingdon and St Neots) and deliver to your door for a fixed fee - £3. You need to provide at least 24 hours notice. Just call 07810 006598 and we will endeavour to meet your needs. The Community Café and our other social activities,as well as our transport service, are still on hold for the moment but we look forward to welcoming you again when we can do so safe- ly. Village News Anne Brown, wife of the late Freddie Brown sadly passed away on Thursday July 2nd 2020 quietly in her sleep. Anne spent the majority her life in Buckden and for many years actively participated in village life. She very much enjoyed living in Buckden and had fond memories of people she got to know.
