17 Buckden Roundabout April 2023 Village News April 2023 Easter closing Spring is here and with it our Easter bank holiday break – all Cambs libraries will be closed on Friday 7 and Monday 10 April, but will be open as usual on the Saturday in between. Terrific Tuesdays Our Tuesday morning Duplo and games for the under 5s con- tinues between 10am and 1pm in our children ’ s library. Rhymetime will take a break for the school Easter holidays but will be back on 18 and 25 April at 2.15pm . No need to book for either of these sessions - just drop in to meet up with other families. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. Sensational Saturdays Our popular Saturday morning Lego Club continues this month on 8 and 22 March from 10 until 12.30 . Just turn up if you ’ d like to create – open to all ages. To alternate with our Lego Club, every other Saturday you can join us for our new Family Games and Puzzles. For adults and children over 3, come and enjoy our selection of games and puzzles – as relaxed or competitive as you wish! For both activities, children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. A suggested donation of 50p per person would be appreciated. Kids ’ Craft We have two craft sessions for children this month. Join us on Saturday 1 April between 10 and 12.30 for some fun Easter makes, and again on Saturday 29 April (same times) for a coro- nation craft to celebrate our new King. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and a suggested donation of £1 per child would be appreciated if you can, to help cover materials. P3 drop ins (formerly provided by Age UK) Caroline continues her monthly visits to the library, offering free information, advice and support for the over 65s and their families. The next visit is on 25 April from 10am until 12. No appointment is needed, just pop in for help and guidance on how to continue to live independently. Knit Lit Our Knit Lit book club continues to meet every other Friday from 7pm until 9pm . They will take a break for Good Friday, but be back for 21 April . New knitters welcome – just turn up! The Hunts Post Our local paper is available to collect free of charge from Buck- den Library. New editions are on the counter from Thursday. Just call in to pick up a copy. Time to apply for or renew your bus pass? We can help. To renew, just call in with your existing bus pass. If you are applying for your first pass, and are of pensionable age, you will need to bring proof of age, proof of address and your national insurance number. There is no charge for this service. THE COMMUNITY CAFÉ is our hub. Just drop in to St Mary ’ s Church Buckden 2.30 - 4pm on the 2 nd Wednesday of every month. Please come and join us, whether you are in need of support, would like to volunteer or just fancy a cuppa, chat and homemade cake. Need someone to talk to? - it is not easy to ask for help, but why struggle when there are people happy to listen and to help? When we keep things to ourselves and struggle on, things can feel overwhelming and a little bit of help can make all the difference. Come and speak to us at the Community Café or email friendsindeed@stmarysbuckden.org.uk . We can arrange either home visits or a friendly voice and ear over the phone. This is a free service and can be either a one - off chat or regular chats. Need a lift to an appointment? Our team of volunteer driv- ers are able to provide transport for vaccination / hospital / dental appointments etc when family, friends or public transport are not an option. There are fixed fees for this ser- vice.
