16 Buckden Roundabout April 2023 Village News Bookings Update This month, alongside all our lovely regular hirers, we have a Wedding Reception, several kid ’ s parties, a dance compe- tition, several corporate bookings and a Blood Donor Ses- sion. Stay & Play Fridays 1pm – 2:30pm Stay & Play sessions are run by Cambs CC and are at the Hall every Friday. Please call 01480 372700 option 1 to book a space. Coronation Tea Party Monday 8 th May 3pm – 5pm Following the success of the Jubilee Tea Party last year, we will be hosting a Coronation Tea Party on Monday 8 th May, 3pm – 5pm as part of the village Coronation celebrations during the bank holiday weekend. Please see the separate article in this Roundabout for more information on all the village events that weekend. New hedging in Valley As part of the Valley improvement some hedging has been planted down the far end of the Valley. We are hoping this will have the opportunity to establish itself. Vandalism If anyone witnesses vandalism taking place around the Val- ley, Hall building or playing field, please report it directly to 101 or online at www.cambs.police.uk. We have been helping people trace their ancestors & transcribing and preserving local records in Cam- bridgeshire since 1976. In 2020 we merged with the Hun- tingdonshire Family History Society and have been tran- scribing their records ever since. Many of them are now searchable on our website with more being added every month. We passionately believe that family history can be a re- warding, interesting and sociable hobby for ALL ages. We can help you trace your tree - whether your ancestors came from Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire or further afield. If you are a beginner, we will show you where to start and if you are a more advanced researcher, we can help you progress further. You will meet like - minded people and make new friends at our monthly research surgeries, currently held in Cam- bridge, Bar Hill, Ely, March, Huntingdon & St Ives and at our talks on a wide range of interesting family and local history topics which are held in person and on Zoom. Our talks for April are: Saturday 15 th April - Mike Petty Vanishing Cambridge- shire Wednesday 19 th April - The history of family photography and dating old photographs. A Research surgery will be held in Huntingdon on Wednesday 26 th April 1 - 4PM at the Huntingdon Ar- chives. Membership starts from only £7 per year and you will receive a jam - packed quarterly journal full of tips and news, a wealth of local knowledge, access to members only records & free membership to the University of Cambridge library. You will also be able to access journals from other Family History Societies and watch past talks held on Zoom. So why not join us?
