There continues to be daily reports of thefts. There is work going on behind the scenes to stop these gangs and make Cambridge- shire an uncomfortable place for them to target. The police are carrying out daily patrols, with the police heli- copter and the Road Policing Unit on standby to assist. They are also working with scrap dealers to ensure the thieves are not able to sell on any stolen metal. It takes just minutes to remove a catalytic converter and many victims are unaware their vehicle has been targeted even though it was sat on the driveway. Please do not approach these people as they are known to carry weapons. Instead call 999 and provide as much infor- mation as you can about the vehicle they are using, the make, model and colour. Remember: If you see a car jacked up If you hear metal being cut It ’ s likely a catalytic converter theft is taking place. Call 999 Cowboy Roofers Be aware of being approached by firms offering roofing ser- vices including roof protection. These firms often break roof tiles and provide a poor and expensive service. Check that any company you engage is reputable. ———————— There are quick and easy self - service ways to get in touch with the police in non - emergencies that don ’ t involve waiting in line for a phone operator. I stowed aboard a subma- rine, I opened magic doors, I travelled in a time machine, and searched for dinosaurs, I climbed atop a giant's head, I found a pot of gold, I did all this in books I read when I was ten years old. - Jack Prelutsky I met a dragon face to face
