The aim of the day was to raise and widen the aspirations of its pupils and to help them make a link between what they learn at school and their aspirations for the future. The day was an amazing success due to many visitors from a wide variety of professions coming in to share with the chil- dren the many different and interesting aspects of their jobs. Among the professions represented were members of the NHS from both Hinchingbrooke and Addenbrookes hospitals, diagnostic imagers, photographer, an archaeologist, a teacher (not one from Buckden!), the police and many others. Engi- neers were well represented by Roxroth Engineering also visit- ed us, and a town planner came along too. Many of the dis- plays were interactive and the children had the opportunity to try out lots of different equipment. The RAF, Navy and Army put on a fantastic display of equip- ment for the children to try and lots of questions were asked about life in the services. Also involved were the local priest, Jes Salt from St Marys Church, graphic designers, a leisure cen- tre manager, accountants, software engineers, a plant scien- tist, and even a representative from Berryworld who had lots of samples of fruit for the children. Many of the children were surprised by the wide range of pro- fessions, and had a thoroughly enjoyable day. We had them walking around school their faces covered in camouflage paint, arms in a sling or with fingers with the tell - tale signs of having their fingerprints taken. Deputy Headteacher Mrs Heather said, 'The day was an amaz- ing success, which is all down to the goodwill of all the people involved. Thank you to all those involved.'
