Buckden - a Huntingdonshire Village

CONEYGARTHS 147 Coneygarths 2009 the early 1960s, part of the land was sold to the Ministry of Transport for the construction of the dual carriageway that bypasses the village High Street. More of the land was sold for housing. When Dr Richard Miles, son of Horace and Janet Miles, and his wife Karen Miles took on the house in 1983, it was with a much reduced plot of ground, and they were faced with a considerable task of restoration and redecoration, inside and out, to make Coneygarths worthy of its listed building status. The Miles family moved away in 2006. Some trivia The arms used by the Green family, as found in a nineteenth century bookplate, were azure three harts trippant 0r— i.e., three yellow deer walking on a blue background with their right forelegs raised. Other than the fact that yellow and blue make green, the association with the family name is not obvious. In 1983, the district council approved a planning application for a change of use of the ground floor rooms to a private junior school.
