Welcome to Buckden’s Friends in Deed

Who are Friends in Deed?

There are times in our lives when we could all do with a little extra friendship, support or companionship whatever our age or circumstance. It is not easy to ask for help but why struggle when there are people happy to listen and to help?  When we keep things to ourselves and struggle on, things can feel overwhelming.  A little bit of help can make a big difference.

‘Friends In Deed’ is a group of volunteers which was first set up in 2006 to help anyone in the village who was lonely and in need, perhaps because they were unwell, housebound, isolated or new to the village. We are able to offer anything from a chat over a cup of tea, to helping out with the practicalities of form filling or providing local transport when family, friends or public transport cannot oblige.  We are supported by St Mary’s Church Buckden; under the umbrella of Care Network Cambridgeshire and is registered with Cambridgeshire County Council as a Community Transport Scheme. All our volunteers have been security checked and safeguarding trained.  We also comply with Data Protection regulations so rest assured that we will respect your privacy and won’t reveal personal information.
